Listen for the Divine voice within

Our soul speaks … but can we hear it? In our noisy and overcrowded lives, it's often difficult to find the space to listen deeply to our own inner voice, let alone the voice of God. In Speak, My Soul, spiritual guide Marsha Crockett leads you through seven pathways for slowing down and discerning God's promptings in your daily life. Using the psalms as a spiritual roadmap, the journey will include seven weeks of daily meditations, prayers, practices, and prompts to help you enter and explore the quiet landscape of the soul, speaking to you even now.

Sacred Conversation: Exploring the Seven Gifts of Spiritual Direction

God created humans with the desire to both know others and be known. People weren't meant to go it alone on their spiritual journeys, and God has provided many fellow travelers to accompany us. Some of these fellow pilgrims--spiritual directors--are called to walk the spiritual path with others. The spiritual director, however, does not seek to tell their counterpart how to live out their faith. Instead, the spiritual director accompanies others on their spiritual journey and helps them discover how God may be working in their lives. The spiritual director listens, notices, encourages, asks questions, and prays for the person receiving spiritual direction.

In Sacred Conversation, readers learn what spiritual direction is and what it isn't. They will explore spiritual practices that have helped people for hundreds of years develop a closer relationship with God through Jesus Christ. Marsha Crockett introduces readers to seven gifts of spiritual direction: awakening, hospitality, story, pilgrimage, silence, meditation, and belonging.

Each chapter contains reflection questions for individuals to use in conversation with their spiritual director, as prompts for journaling, or for sharing with small groups.

Speak, My Soul - The soul speaks. But can we hear it? Journey through the sacred inner pathways through the soul to learn the art of listening to the voice of God found as our own souls speak — pathways such as Discernment, Disciplines, Abiding, Wilderness, Identity, Community, and Contemplation. From the ancient psalms we learn how the psalmists spoke to their own souls, “Why are you downcast, O my soul?” “Bless the Lord, O my soul…” and other prayers of the soul form our reflections and intention to deepen our prayer life and our awareness of God working and speaking within us. Based on the chapters of my book, Speak, My Soul.

Sacred Conversation - Based on my book by the same name, we’ll explore three gifts of sacred conversations including Awakening, Meditation, and Belonging using contemplative practices including lectio divina, journaling, and a guided prayer of examen.

The Power of Story - Embracing our personal faith journey is the first step to more deeply encountering Christ in your everyday world. Exploring the past, present and future grace of God in our stories provides creative opportunities to express our faith.

Journal the Journey - “Journal” has the same root word as “Journey” and journaling is a tool that opens the doors to finding our voice, opening new thoughts, and offering ourselves to God as prayer. Insights into how to get past the “blank page,” prompts for getting started, “five-moment-memoir” exercises, all work to get our pens and our hearts, minds, and souls in sync.
