DAY 21: Ponder the Mystery: A Contemplative Advent Journey
“…and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds told them. But Mary treasured all these words and pondered them in her heart.” Luke 2:18, 19.
PONDER: Throughout these days of Advent we’ve heard the story we call Christmas, filled with promises, paradox, and peace. We’ve imagined being eyewitnesses to the good news of great joy. And we’ve held it as a light for our own present-day reality. Perhaps you’ve seen a glimmer of hope, received a seed of new life, or released a burden into the Divine creative stream of grace.
RESPOND: As you close out your Advent days, take time, like Mary, to treasure it all and ponder it in your heart. If you’ve kept a journal, go back through your notes and notice what shimmers with light and life for the days to come. Where do you notice your struggles coming in contact with the Divine invitations to be at peace, to not be afraid? Return to the three-word prayer, “Here I am” as you come before the Holy One who sees you, walks with you and delights in you on this journey. In gratitude, with blessings, and an open heart let this story be your story as you journey on.
A BLESSING: May these days of wonder and mystery unveil new pathways of life to you. May the Prince of Peace rule in your heart and soul even through difficult circumstances. May the Wonderful, Counselor impart deep wisdom and intimate knowledge of God abiding with you all the days of your life. Amen.
